Who doesn’t love a grilled cheese sandwich? This comfort food makes us dream of when Mom brought the skillet to cook up a gooey, crunchy stack of goodness. If that’s a kid’s (or a grown kid’s) dream, then this simple, grilled cheese with sauerkraut recipe is the adult version. Since our kraut remains crisp in the fridge, the added texture and flavor are a big bonus. Pair with some soup and you’re all set to relive those childhood memories.
2 slices of your favorite bread
1 Tbsp. butter
1/2 c. wildbrine Raw Organic Red Sauerkraut, drained
2 slices jack cheese or cheese of choice
5 minutes
Serves 1
Butter one side of each slice of bread. Place slice of cheese on a non-buttered side of bread. Spread on Sauerkraut and then top with another slice of cheese. Place the other slice of bread on top of sandwich with butter side facing out. Cook in frying pan until cheese is melted over medium heat, about 2-3 minutes per side.
